Sandvik Introduces AutoMine Surface Drilling Training Simulator

Sandvik Mining has unveiled its AutoMine Surface Drilling Training Simulator, designed to strengthen operator skills and optimise the efficiency of automated drilling operations.

The simulator is compatible with all i-series surface drill rigs and offers a realistic, safe, and cost-effective training environment for today’s mining operations. It allows trainees to manage up to three rigs of the same type simultaneously, focusing on essential tasks such as path planning, autonomous production cycle control, and real-time monitoring of drilling performance.

Featuring camera views that replicate those used in actual AutoMine systems, the simulator also includes dedicated virtual modules for practising AutoMine safety procedures. Encased in a compact, portable transport case, it is easy to move and set up quickly, while authentic rig pedals and controls provide a hands-on experience that closely mirrors real-world operations.

The system operates independently, without requiring external network connections, and leverages components from Sandvik’s established training platforms to ensure reliable performance and continuity in operator education.
