Epiroc has launched a comprehensive suite of digital mine planning solutions globally, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing strategy to integrate and unify its acquired mining technologies into a single connected ecosystem. The rollout brings together years of development, integration work, and mining domain expertise to strengthen how mining companies plan, manage, and execute operations.
Over recent years, Epiroc has steadily built its digital capabilities through targeted acquisitions, including the purchase of MineRP in 2021, which contributed deep expertise in integrated mine planning, execution, and optimisation. Additional technologies from across Epiroc’s wider digital portfolio have also been incorporated into a unified platform now positioned under the company’s Groundbreaking Intelligence offering.
The integration process has now been completed, resulting in five dedicated mine planning solutions designed to support different aspects of mining operations. These include Work Manager, SimulatOre, Drill Quality Manager, InterOp, and the newly introduced OreInventory. Together, they form a connected planning environment aimed at improving decision-making, operational efficiency, and coordination across mining workflows.
According to André Steenkamp, General Manager of Epiroc’s Plan product line, the focus going forward will be on strengthening the link between mine planning and operational execution through deeper system interoperability. He noted that improved data connectivity will help create a single trusted source of information across planning, geology, survey, and operations, reducing manual processes and enabling faster, more informed decisions at shift level.
Work Manager is designed to support short-term planning and shift execution by enabling collaborative planning, task tracking, and real-time visibility across teams. It allows mining operations to better align resources and activities while improving compliance with planned schedules through integrated reporting and coordination tools.
SimulatOre provides an AI-driven decision-support capability that uses predictive modelling, optimisation, and simulation to help mines anticipate operational conditions, test scenarios, and refine planning decisions before execution. It supports improved risk management and helps align production outcomes with financial and operational targets.
OreInventory focuses on mineral inventory management and ore-flow tracking, enabling mines to centralise data on stockpiles, grades, and material movement. It supports blending decisions, reconciliation processes, and auditable reporting by integrating geological data, operational feedback, and planning inputs into a unified system.
Drill Quality Manager delivers drill performance monitoring and optimisation across surface and underground operations. It provides near real-time analysis of drilling accuracy, comparing planned versus actual execution to reduce rework, improve fragmentation, and optimise resource use through detailed 3D visualisation.
InterOp serves as the digital backbone of the ecosystem, enabling interoperability and data integration across mining and enterprise systems. Built on the Mine Operational Data Store (MiODS), it connects planning, geology, survey, ERP, and operational platforms to establish a consistent and reliable data environment for analytics and decision-making.
Håkan Schildt, Vice President of Business Line Safety & Digital Applications, said the global launch reflects the successful consolidation of Epiroc’s digital acquisitions into a unified offering. He noted that combining specialist capabilities, including the foundation provided by MineRP, has enabled the company to deliver a fully connected digital ecosystem spanning mine safety, planning, and operations.
He added that the five solutions form the foundation for improved safety, stronger decision-making, and more efficient execution from strategic planning through to shift-level operations, supported by Epiroc’s global expertise and deployment capability.
