Power Minerals Secures High-Grade Morro do Ferro Rare Earths Project in Brazil

Power Minerals has strengthened its position in the global critical minerals sector with the acquisition of the Morro do Ferro (MDF) Rare Earths Project in Brazil’s Minas Gerais state. The move marks a strategic step as demand for rare earth elements—particularly those used in clean energy and advanced technologies—continues to accelerate.

The project stands out for its exceptional grade profile. Historical drilling has revealed consistently high Total Rare Earth Oxide (TREO) grades across broad intervals, extending from surface to depth. Importantly, mineralisation remains open both along strike and at depth, indicating strong potential for resource expansion through further exploration.

What makes Morro do Ferro particularly attractive is its concentration of high-value magnetic rare earth elements. These include neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and terbium—key components in permanent magnets used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, and other advanced technologies. These elements account for the majority of the commercial value in rare earth deposits, significantly enhancing the project’s economic potential.

Strategically located within the Poços de Caldas Alkaline Complex, one of Brazil’s most established rare earth provinces, the project benefits from a favourable geological setting and proximity to other advanced operations. This reduces development risk and provides a strong foundation for future growth.

The acquisition structure aligns payment milestones with project development, linking deferred payments to the delivery of a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate. This approach ensures that financial commitments are closely tied to exploration success and project de-risking.

Looking ahead, Power Minerals is preparing to accelerate exploration activities. Planned programmes include deeper drilling to expand the known high-grade zones, as well as additional work to identify new mineralised areas across the broader project footprint. The immediate objective is to define a maiden resource estimate, which will be a key step in advancing the project toward development.

With strong grades, a high concentration of valuable magnetic rare earths, and clear exploration upside, the Morro do Ferro project positions Power Minerals to play a more prominent role in the global supply of critical minerals. As demand for these resources continues to grow, projects like MDF are expected to become increasingly important in supporting the transition to clean energy and advanced manufacturing technologies.
