Metso is celebrating a decade of innovation at its Dewatering Technology Center (DTC) in Lappeenranta, Finland. Since opening in 2015, the facility has become a global hub for advancing filtration and separation technologies, serving the mining and processing industries with solutions that are both efficient and sustainable.
Over the past ten years, the Lappeenranta DTC has expanded into a state-of-the-art research and testing hub, offering everything from bench-scale analysis to full pilot testing and process optimization. Working closely with Metso’s nearby Filtration Technology Center—home to filter manufacturing—the site has played a vital role in improving energy, emissions, and water efficiency. Today, more than 90% of Metso’s filters form part of the Metso Plus range, which reflects these advancements.
“We’re proud to celebrate this milestone and grateful for our customers’ trust and our team’s commitment to innovation and exceptional customer service,” said Leena Tanttu, Director of Process and Testing of Filters at Metso. “Our Dewatering Technology Center supports efficient and sustainable flowsheet development, underscoring Metso’s long-term dedication to filtration technology.”
A Decade of Progress, A Future of Possibilities
The anniversary was marked with an event on September 4, bringing together customers, employees, partners, and stakeholders to celebrate achievements and explore future opportunities.
Metso’s filtration expertise is rooted in more than a century of research and development. The company’s global network now includes 14 filtration testing locations and around 140 service sites, ensuring local support wherever customers operate.
Earlier this year, Metso strengthened its global footprint with the opening of a Dewatering Development Hub in Irapuato, Mexico. The facility manufactures polymer filter plates and other filtration equipment while also serving as a product development center. This new hub complements Metso’s existing filtration manufacturing facilities in Finland, India, and China.
Global Reach, Proven Solutions
Metso’s filtration portfolio spans 16 filter types, supported by comprehensive services for mining and industrial applications. With over 5,000 installations worldwide, the company continues to set industry benchmarks for performance, reliability, and sustainability.
As the Dewatering Technology Center enters its second decade, Metso remains focused on pushing the boundaries of filtration science—driving solutions that reduce environmental impact while improving efficiency for customers across the globe.
