As global mining and infrastructure projects demand tougher, more capable support vehicles, Chevrolet has unveiled a special Stars & Steel Collection for its 2026 pickup lineup—highlighting the manufacturer’s continued focus on heavy-duty performance, durability and advanced braking technologies relevant to industrial fleet operations.
Timed to coincide with the United States’ 250th anniversary, the Stars & Steel editions will be available across four core pickup platforms: Silverado EV, Silverado Light Duty, Silverado Heavy Duty and Colorado, with production scheduled to begin in early spring 2026.
While the designs draw on patriotic themes, the underlying specification upgrades speak directly to industries such as mining, construction, energy and large-scale infrastructure, where fleet reliability and stopping power are critical.
Fleet-Ready Capabilities Across Key Platforms
Silverado Heavy Duty (HD)
The Stars & Steel Silverado HD is offered on the LTZ Crew Cab Trail Boss 4WD, pairing a 6.6-litre Duramax diesel engine with off-road and trailering packages designed for demanding worksites.
Key features include:
- Z71 Off-Road Package and Trail Boss specification
- Heavy-duty Brembo braking system
- Max Trailering and Gooseneck/5th Wheel Prep Packages
- High-clearance assist steps and underbody protection
These features make the HD variant particularly relevant for mine support vehicles, exploration logistics, and heavy towing operations in remote environments.
Silverado Light Duty (LD)
The Silverado LD Stars & Steel edition combines a 6.2-litre petrol engine with performance upgrades such as Brembo brakes, enhanced air intake and protective packages—positioning it as a practical option for site supervisors, maintenance fleets and regional logistics roles.
Colorado Trail Boss
Smaller but highly capable, the Colorado Stars & Steel Trail Boss offers 4WD capability, skid plates, rock protection and off-road suspension, making it suitable for geological survey teams, light exploration support and confined mine access routes.
Silverado EV
Chevrolet is also extending the Stars & Steel concept to the Silverado EV, reflecting the growing interest in electrified fleet vehicles for lower-emission mine support, particularly in regions with renewable-powered operations or underground ventilation constraints.
Emphasis on Safety and Braking Performance
Across multiple models, Chevrolet has introduced Brembo heavy-duty braking systems, with larger brake discs and six-piston front calipers. For mining and industrial fleets, improved braking performance translates directly into enhanced safety, reduced maintenance downtime and better control under heavy loads.
Built for Industrial Markets
All Stars & Steel vehicles are assembled in the United States, with pricing to be announced closer to launch. While the collection celebrates American manufacturing heritage, its specifications underline Chevrolet’s intent to support global industrial and mining markets, where pickup trucks play a critical role in day-to-day site operations.
As mining companies continue to modernise fleet assets and prioritise safety, durability and performance, models such as the Silverado HD and Colorado Trail Boss remain central to support vehicle strategies across both mature and emerging mining jurisdictions.
