Metso has unveiled the third-generation OKTOP® Cooling Tower, engineered to tackle the growing operational challenges faced in demanding slurry and electrolyte cooling applications within metals refining.
This latest model brings together Metso’s well-established cooling technology and a significantly reduced installation footprint—making it particularly suitable for brownfield expansions where space and installation time are critical. The system delivers high cooling performance, simplified maintenance, and the lowest emissions in its class, forming part of the broader Metso Plus portfolio.
According to Valter Mangs, Product Manager for Cooling Towers at Metso, the new generation is designed for maximum operational efficiency.
“The third-generation OKTOP Cooling Tower offers a footprint up to 70% smaller than the previous design, without compromising cooling capacity,” he explained. “Its enhanced configuration eliminates warm off-gas recirculation, ensuring consistent cooling performance. And as the world’s first self-cleaning cooling tower, it delivers the longest uninterrupted operational cycles available.”
Metso continues to strengthen its leadership in hydrometallurgical processing solutions, providing comprehensive services ranging from process testing and flowsheet development to plant design and proprietary equipment supply. The company’s equipment solutions are built to optimise throughput, support metallurgical performance, and ensure dependable long-term operation.
