Libiao Robotics installs 240-robot parcel sorting hub in Argentina

Libiao Robotics has expanded its global footprint with the commissioning of a fully automated parcel sorting centre for Correo Argentino at its Monte Grande facility near Buenos Aires.

The project represents the first large-scale deployment of autonomous robotic parcel sorting technology in Latin America and marks a significant milestone in the modernisation of Argentina’s national postal network.

Covering an area of 1,180 m², the new facility is powered by 240 autonomous Libiao robots and can process up to 9,000 parcels per hour—tripling the site’s previous sorting capacity. The system is designed to handle small and medium-sized e-commerce parcels weighing up to 5 kg, which make up the majority of both domestic and international parcel volumes.

At the core of the installation is Libiao’s T-Sort Sorting System, which integrates artificial intelligence, advanced sensor technology and dynamic routing algorithms to deliver high-speed, high-accuracy sortation. Parcels are inducted through 13 workstations, scanned using barcode or QR code recognition, and transported by Libiao’s signature ‘mini yellow’ robots to 130 destination chutes. These serve 60 destinations across the Buenos Aires metropolitan area and a further 70 locations nationwide.

Ronan Shen, Libiao’s global head of sales, says the project highlights the transformative potential of intelligent robotics in postal operations. “This installation shows how advanced robotic systems can enhance efficiency and accuracy, even in large and geographically diverse countries,” he says. “We are proud to support Correo Argentino in building a future-ready network that can scale alongside continued e-commerce growth.”

Unlike traditional fixed conveyor-based systems, the modular design of the T-Sort solution allows capacity to be expanded simply by adding robots or destinations, without major structural modifications. Key benefits include high throughput within a compact footprint, flexible destination configuration, improved sorting accuracy, rapid deployment and a lower total cost of ownership due to reduced mechanical complexity and simplified maintenance.

For Correo Argentino, the new installation forms part of a broader transformation programme following a strong financial turnaround and increased investment in automation. A second robotic sorter capable of handling parcels weighing up to 30 kg is planned for 2026, alongside the introduction of RFID tracking, automated weighing systems and robotic container handling.

Libiao Robotics is a global provider of robotic sorting, picking and material handling solutions for the logistics, e-commerce, postal, retail and manufacturing sectors. Its portfolio includes the T-Sort Sorting System, the AirRob bin-to-person solution, goods-to-person systems and integrated warehouse control software. The company has delivered hundreds of projects worldwide and continues to expand its presence across Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.

Shen notes that logistics operators globally face common pressures, including rising labour costs, peak demand volatility and sustained e-commerce growth. “Robotic sortation provides a proven, future-proof path to higher productivity and operational resilience,” he says.
