The Minister of Economy and Mining will lead the 19th edition of Latin America’s premier mining exhibition and congress, to be held from April 20-24, 2027, at Espacio Riesco. His participation aims to strengthen the link between industry development, innovation, and the country’s economic growth.
Chilean mining is facing one of the most decisive moments in its history. The progress of the energy transition, the growing demand for critical minerals, and the need to promote increasingly sustainable production have placed the country at the heart of major global transformations. In this context, the Minister of Economy and Mining, Daniel Mas, will assume the honorary presidency of Expomin 2027, the largest international mining exhibition and congress in Latin America, reaffirming the State’s commitment to an industry that is strategic for national development.
The 19th edition of Expomin, organized by FISA of the GL events Chile Group, will take place from April 20 to 24, 2027, at Espacio Riesco under the theme “Mining the World Needs”. For five days, it will bring together authorities, companies, suppliers, research centers, academics, and representatives from various countries to discuss the challenges that will shape the future of the sector.
For Daniel Mas, the country’s mining leadership represents an opportunity that transcends resource extraction. “Chile is a world-class mining powerhouse, destined to lead the supply of the minerals the planet needs. This leadership only makes sense when it translates into more jobs, better technology, and greater growth opportunities for our regions”, he stated.
The minister maintained that the impact of mining extends throughout the entire production chain and constitutes an engine for the country’s economic development. “Supporting mining development means boosting thousands of small and medium-sized supplier companies that are the productive heart of our communities. The progress of our mining sector guarantees greater resources to finance development and address Chile’s urgent social needs”, he noted.
His appointment as honorary president of Expomin 2027 reinforces the public-private partnership that has historically distinguished the exhibition, solidifying its position as a space where key decisions, trends, and innovations converge to shape the future of global mining.

International Congress
One of the main pillars of Expomin 2027 will be its International Congress, which will be chaired by Iván Arriagada, CEO of Antofagasta Minerals. The event will bring together industry leaders, authorities, experts, and representatives from academia to analyze the major challenges facing global mining, from the geopolitics of critical minerals and artificial intelligence to sustainability, decarbonization, and the development of new talent. With the European Union as special guest, the meeting will seek to establish itself as a forum for dialogue on the role of mining in the energy transition and the economic development of producing countries.
Young Talent, SMEs, and Startups
The 2025 edition of Expomin was a resounding success, bringing together 83,498 visitors and 1,372 exhibitors from 35 countries, all spread across 100,000 square meters.
In this regard, Carola Fuentes, General Manager of FISA, is confident that Expomin will continue to grow in attendance, international participation, and by opening the fair to young talent. “The mining industry needs to attract new generations and showcase the opportunities it offers in areas such as technology, automation, sustainability, and innovation. That’s why we are working to connect students, universities, technical training centers (CFTs), and young professionals with an industry that will be a key player in the development of the coming decades”, says the executive, who adds that the next edition of the fair will also have a special focus on creating more opportunities for SMEs, startups, and ventures that develop solutions for the industry. “Innovation often originates in smaller companies, and we believe that Expomin can become the meeting point to connect them with large companies and generate new opportunities for collaboration”, he concludes.
