Liebherr-Australia has strengthened its presence in Western Australia’s gold mining sector following the delivery of three new excavators to Gold Fields’ Gruyere Gold Mine, marking the start of a new partnership between the two companies.
The delivery includes two R 9600 excavators and one R 9400 excavator. The first R 9600 and the R 9400 were commissioned at the Gruyere operation in May, with the second R 9600 joining the fleet in June.
Located in the Yamarna Greenstone Belt, the Gruyere Gold Mine is one of Western Australia’s major gold operations. Liebherr said the new equipment will support efficient and reliable large-scale mining activities at the site.
Liebherr-Australia Managing Director for Mining, Trent Wehr, said the company is pleased to begin its relationship with Gold Fields by supplying equipment backed by dedicated customer support.
“We are proud to welcome Gold Fields as a new customer and to support their operations with our excavators and our dedicated customer support team,” Wehr said. “This partnership reflects the strength of our mining portfolio and our commitment to delivering reliable, high-performance equipment to the Western Australian gold sector.”
According to Liebherr, the deployment of the excavators further expands its footprint in Western Australia’s goldfields, where demand for productive and reliable mining equipment continues to grow.
Wehr said the company’s expansion reflects its strategy to support a broader range of mining applications across the region.
“The R 9600 and R 9400 are designed to deliver high material movement rates with efficient fuel consumption and simplified maintenance, which are key factors for operations in these environments,” he said. “Combined with our established service network, we’re well positioned to support consistent performance across the full machine lifecycle.”
Liebherr said both excavator models are designed to provide high payload capacity, reliability and productivity in demanding mining conditions.
The company added that it continues to invest in its Western Australian operations by expanding its service network, improving parts availability and strengthening technical support to maximise equipment uptime for customers.
