Metso is advancing its digitalisation efforts by launching a Digital Design and Development Studio in Krakow, Poland, on September 17, 2024.
Building on its strengths in equipment innovation, process expertise, and metallurgical knowledge, Metso’s digital strategy combines technical and field services with cutting-edge digital capabilities. The new studio will play a crucial role in developing and deploying digital solutions that drive customer value and address industry needs.
“The opening of the Digital Design and Development Studio marks a significant milestone in our journey to expand our digital offerings. This new hub will focus on critical areas such as software development, design, data analysis, user experience, and AI to meet the growing demand for advanced digital solutions,” said Olivier Guyot, Senior Vice President for Minerals Digital at Metso.
Currently, Metso employs around 50 digital experts at its Krakow location, with plans to significantly grow this number in the coming months. Overall, the company has about 250 professionals dedicated to its extensive portfolio of digital solutions.
“Digital technology is key to unlocking new value for our clients. It helps optimise throughput, improve recoveries, increase equipment uptime, and enhance productivity, all while promoting sustainability. It also addresses industry challenges like the skills gap and labour shortages,” Guyot added.
In its digital development for mineral processing, Metso focuses on three main areas: enhancing equipment performance through digitally integrated Life Cycle Services, enabling remote monitoring and predictive maintenance; optimising process performance for efficiency and sustainability in ore-to-metal operations; and improving business enablement by enhancing the customer experience and employee productivity within a data-driven, AI-powered environment.
The new team members at the Krakow studio will contribute to these initiatives, working closely with Metso’s global digital teams.
