Volvo Construction Equipment has launched an additional electric machine for customers in Indonesia.

The L120 Electric was introduced during a special ceremony at this year’s Mining Indonesia exhibition in Jakarta on 11 – 14 September, attended by customers and stakeholders and staged in partnership with the company’s long-standing Indonesian dealer, PT Indotruck Utama (ITU).

The L120 Electric wheel loader will be Volvo CE’s largest electric machine in Indonesia. Its introduction follows the launch of the ECR25 Electric compact excavator and the L25 Electric compact wheel loader in 2023. It is a versatile model suitable for multiple applications, including mining, construction, waste and recycling, agriculture, forestry, ports, and more.

Tomas Kuta, Head of Region Asia, said:

“Our customers in Indonesia have the most breadth of Volvo solutions, combining both loading and hauling. The launch of L120 Electric is a continuation of our electrification journey. I hope our customers can benefit greatly from this product to build up a sustainable Indonesia.”

The L120 Electric wheel loader offers the same powerful performance as its diesel counterpart, but with the added benefits of zero emissions and near-silent operation. With its unique Active Energy Recovery, the machine enhances its autonomy and can handle loads of up to 6 t. It offers great versatility thanks to the host of optional attachments, including buckets, forks, grapples, and a material handling arm. Additionally, the L120 Electric delivers significantly lower energy costs. It also lowers the maintenance cost by up to 30% compared to a diesel driveline, resulting in increased uptime and improved productivity.

Volvo CE and ITU are offering an industry-leading warranty with the new machine to give customers added peace of mind. There is a 10 000 hr complete machine warranty and 5 year/10 000 hr warranty coverage for the battery.

Bambang Prijono, President Director of PT Indotruck Utama (ITU), commented:

“We have 41 years of partnership with Volvo, and we are honoured to be part of the development and growth of Volvo CE’s business in Indonesia. We believe the future of mobility is not only about moving the goods but also about doing it in a way that we protect the planet for future generations.”

The L120 Electric wheel loader will be commercially available in 1Q25. Further launches of electric machines into Indonesia are also planned.
