Caterpillar Expands Digital Innovation Hub in Bangalore
Caterpillar Inc. has unveiled a new office in Whitefield, Bangalore, marking a significant step in expanding its digital capabilities and strengthening its presence in India.
For over five decades, Caterpillar has been a major player in India, investing in five advanced manufacturing facilities and two high-tech research and development (R&D) centers. These initiatives currently support a workforce of over 7,000 employees.
The newly inaugurated office will serve as a hub for the growing Cat Digital team—the company’s tech division driving innovation through cutting-edge digital solutions.
In a statement, Caterpillar highlighted the contributions of its Indian team, comprising software and data engineers, data scientists, architects, product managers, developers, and testers. Leveraging advanced digital infrastructure and IoT intelligence, this team is crafting data-driven solutions that optimize the performance and efficiency of heavy machinery.
The office features an Employee Experience Centre, a collaborative workspace, and a dedicated lab for Cat Digital teams to experiment and innovate. Strategically located in the heart of Bangalore’s vibrant tech ecosystem, this space positions Caterpillar at the forefront of innovation.
Akash Jain, India Leader for Cat Digital, reflected on the journey:
“When we began our Bangalore operations in 2020 with a small team, our vision was clear: to invest in the right talent and technology to enhance the ownership experience for our customers. India’s rich tech talent pool has been pivotal in this growth.”
He further noted, “Today, we’re a significant team of innovators working on solutions for fleet management, condition monitoring, and e-commerce to benefit Caterpillar customers and dealers. This new office stands as both recognition of our team’s outstanding contributions and an invitation for India’s top tech talent to join us in shaping the future of innovation.”
The Bangalore office will accommodate 30% of Caterpillar’s Cat Digital talent in India, with the remaining 70% continuing to operate out of the Chennai office. This expansion underscores Caterpillar’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting its global customer base through advanced digital solutions.
